What is Cyber Attack?
Cyberattacks are on the rise, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
A cyberattack is any attempt to gain unauthorized access to an organization’s network or data.
While there are different types of cyberattacks, they all have one thing in common—they can be incredibly damaging to your business if you’re not prepared. Let’s take a look at what a cyberattack is and how it works.
What Types of Cyberattacks Exist?
Phishing Scams: involves sending out emails that appear to come from a legitimate source (e.g., your bank) but actually contain malicious links or attachments that can compromise your computer and steal sensitive information.
Malware Attacks: Malware is malicious software designed to gain access to your computer or network without your knowledge or consent. It can be used for anything from stealing data to infiltrating systems and launching further attacks.
Ransomware Attacks: Ransomware is similar to malware in that it is also malicious software intended to gain access to an organization’s system or data without their permission; however, instead of stealing data or launching further attacks, ransomware locks up the target system until payment has been made.
Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks: DDoS attacks involve flooding systems with requests in order to overload them so they cannot respond correctly or quickly enough for users. This type of attack can be used for anything from taking down websites for ransom payments to disrupting online services like banks and email servers.
Social Engineering Attacks: Social engineering attacks involve manipulating people into revealing confidential information such as passwords and other security details. Attackers may use phishing emails, phone calls, text messages, impersonation tactics, and more in order to gain access to a target system or data.
